Minerals Photography is a specialized service of Camarda Visual Studio LLC, a visual communication studio based in Farmington, Connecticut. Here is who does the work.
Charles Camarda — Founder
I am Charles Camarda, founder of Camarda Visual Studio and creator of Minerals Photography. Photography, videography, graphic design, web development: over twenty-five years working across all of it, always with the same underlying interest in how things look and why they look that way.
Photography runs in my family. My great-grandfather was a cinematographer. His sons became photographers. I grew up around lenses, cameras and darkrooms before I fully understood what any of it was. I started my professional life in corporate communications and graphic design, and picked up a camera seriously in 2005.
Years of travel followed: nature, wildlife, landscapes. Then minerals. A niche that demands patience and precision in equal measure, where every specimen responds to light differently, and where getting the image right means starting over as often as it means finishing.
My work has been exhibited in France, the United Kingdom and the United States. After nearly ten years in New York City, I am now based in Connecticut, and I travel wherever the project requires.
A Team That Adapts
Depending on the nature and scale of a project, I work with trusted collaborators. Coralie, who trained in photography and handles content integration on our collection websites, is one of them. Others come in as needed: photographers, technicians, specialists.
The work gets done by the right people for the project, not by a fixed headcount.
